Frequently asked questions
- Why can't I make the videos smaller or bigger?
- The videos now scale to fit your screen automatically, so there is no need to choose a size. The original CD-ROM version stored each clip at a single fixed size, and the original website offered three sizes; this version uses one size that works well everywhere, which keeps the download fast and the page usable on phones as well as projectors.
- The video is slow to start. What can I do?
- Videos only load when you press play, so the page itself stays quick. On a slow connection the first few seconds may take a moment to buffer.
- Can I use these materials in my classroom?
- Yes. The resource was created for interpreters, teachers of the Deaf and communication support workers to use in classrooms, science festivals and public lectures.
- Where can I get the laboratory materials?
- Everything needed to carry out the experiments, together with full written notes for teachers and technicians, can be ordered from the Life Science Education section of Bio-Rad.
- Does the site use cookies or track me?
- No. There are no cookies, no advertising and no third-party analytics or trackers.
- What happened to the CD-ROM version?
- The resource began life as a CD-ROM and an accompanying website. The video clips and written descriptions from those versions are all preserved here; the site has simply been rebuilt so that it continues to work in modern browsers.
